On August 25, 2012, the best of the best of the Colorado pool scene vied for the title of Colorado State 9-Ball Champion. Players came from Fort Collins, Colorado Springs, and even Albuquerque, New Mexico for their chance at the glory. At the end of the day, Mark Haddad was the last man standing. It had been years since Colorado held a state championship and this prestigious title comes with the honor of representing our state at the upcoming 37th Annual U.S. Open 9-Ball Championships in Virginia Beach, VA October 21-27.

Haddad went undefeated through a field of Colorado’s finest players, defeating Tony Piazza in the finals. 19-year-old former Junior National Champion, Danny Olson proved he could hang with the big guys, finishing tied for fifth with Denver’s favorite Adam King, and eliminating Marc Vidal on the b-side. Olson’s run came to an end when he relinquished his 5-1 against the reigning champ from last month’s event, Ruben Silva. Another familiar face in the winner’s circle was “ATM” Andrew Pettenger who finished in third place.

Felt players gear up for the $2,000 Added Season Finale in November. The only event remaining in the series is the upcoming Colorado Straight Pool Championship held on September 15-16. Players needed to play in a minimum five events to be eligible to compete in the finale.
