On the brisk fall weekend of November 5-6th, a competitive field
of ladies arrived for the first of many money-added events to happen
at Felt Billiards. Jessica Moxon of Denver was crowned the new Felt
Ladies’ 8-Ball Classic champion. She cruised through the field
on Saturday and returned Sunday to face six month pregnant master
player Angela Jackson for the A-side finals. Moxon took that match
with a convincing score of 5-2.
Jackson would later return to meet up with Moxon
again in the finals, redeeming herself in the first match 5-1. She
was back with a vengeance and took the second set to the hill. In
the end, it was Moxon that would claim the final game and the match.
It was a profitable weekend for Moxon who almost didn’t even
sign up.
She was a last minute entry who decided to find something
to do for the weekend. “My husband was hunting and if I didn’t
so something I would be bored,” she said casually. Moxon regularly
attends nationals in Vegas for team and singles events and this
was only her second local ladies event in years.
Felt Billiards is located at 101 West Floyd Avenue in Englewood,
Colorado. It has a full bar and kitchen, and is home to the best
weekly tournaments in town. The next scheduled big event is the
$1,000 8-Ball Freeze December 2-4. For more information visit www.FeltBar.com
