Question:
“Often times, while in the middle of a run, there's more
than one path that can be taken to reach the desired position for
the next shot. How do you know which path to take? I've noticed
that even the people commentating on TV usually know exactly how
the player is going to get to their next shot even though I see
a number of options.”
Answer:
When I was younger, I dwelled on what was right/wrong as far as
position. My long time coach would encourage me that there really
isn’t a right/wrong way to run out as long as you get out.
But there is always a simpler way of running the balls. Not always
on TV do the commentators get it right either.
When I teach, I always recommend fighting for that natural angle
to the next shot and a rule of thumb is try and be as simple as
possible; if you don’t have to be extravagant with the cue
ball then don’t.
Your best bet is to join my open clinic at the Wynkoop- the next
one is scheduled for Saturday, August 6th, 2011. Visit www.melissalittle.com
for more information. Till next month, practice practice and more
practice…
Best of luck to you,
